The mission of Regional Opportunity Initiatives, Inc. (ROI) is to support economic and community prosperity in the 11 counties of Southwest Central Indiana (now called the Indiana Uplands). Through an initial $25,870,000 grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., ROI is implementing education and workforce initiatives and strategies for quality of place development.
Led by a regional board of directors, ROI is affiliated with the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County as a supporting organization.
Education and Workforce Initiatives
ROI is working with regional leaders to develop a series of initiatives focused on connecting education and industry to create a workforce that is prepared for the demands of employers.
As part of this effort, ROI conducted an occupational needs assessment within the region, initially focused on key sectors in the Indiana Uplands: advanced manufacturing, life sciences, and national security and defense. The results of the occupational needs assessment are informing a wide range of workforce and education initiatives that are being deployed across the region. Quality of Place Initiatives
ROI is supporting and planning for investments in quality of place development that has the potential to benefit the entire Indiana Uplands region.
Initiatives include I-69 interchange analyses, competitive positioning/regional branding, and Ready Communities Planning & Implementation Grants, and a regional housing study. View ROI’s quality of place initiatives.
