The mission of Regional Opportunity Initiatives, Inc. (ROI) is to support regional development opportunities in the 11 counties of Southwest Central Indiana. Through an initial $25,870,000 grant through Lilly Endowment Inc., ROI is implementing an education and workforce plan and regional opportunity fund for quality-of-place investments.
Led by a regional board of directors, ROI is affiliated with the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County (CFBMC). Current CFBMC President and CEO Tina Peterson is serving as interim Chief Executive Officer of ROI.
Education and Workforce Plan
ROI is working with regional leaders to develop a plan focused on connecting education to industry to create a workforce that is prepared for the demands of employers.
As part of this effort, ROI conducted occupational needs assessments within the region, initially focused on Southwest Central Indiana’s key sectors: life sciences, advanced manufacturing and national security and defense. The results of the occupational needs assessments will help inform a wide range of workforce and education initiatives and strategies that will be deployed over the coming months and years.
Regional Opportunities Fund
Seeded by grant funds, ROI is also managing a fund to help support planning for and investment in quality-of-place development that has the potential to benefit the entire Southwest Central Indiana region. Look for more information on the fund soon.
